Dallara IR-27 IndyCar Series 2027 onwards all-new car discussion

IndyCar Series 2026 season will be final season for Dallara DW12 UAK18 subgeneration chassis car which has been required since 2012 season and from 2027 season onwards all new IndyCar Series car will be used until 2032 and thus Dallara DW12 will expected to retire after 2026 season (if no subject to change).

I expect the design of Dallara IR-27 car will majorly based on Formula 1 2022 aerodynamics generational except the airbox.

Your sketch is really F1 based, well Dallara still builds the Haas cars don't they?
They can certainly find "inspiration".

The Dallara DW12 is nearing retirement! The 2026 IndyCar season will be its last, with an all-new car, the Dallara IR-27, taking the reins in 2027. Expect the IR-27 to borrow heavily from Formula 1's current (2022) aerodynamic design, with the possible exception of the airbox. This should shake things up on the track!

Aldo Costa now working at Dallara gives me hope the new car should be at least technically interesting. I wouldn't deviate radically from the current car since the racing itself is pretty good (maybe slight tweaks needed at Indy, but honestly if they just went back to the 2015-17 speedway package it would be great).

It will absolutely NOT happen but there is an ex-Indycar designer who I hear is out of work soon and may have some free time on his hands

Ironically, the current F1 regs are very CART based, circa mid-late 1990s, when viewed from below.
