Any chance that the softer tyre compounds (C3/4/5) could cause a bit of a form upset around Albert Park this week?

I’m assuming the C5 won’t be a race tyre at all?

Flicking through the 2019 race I think Bottas won it with a one stop C4 > C3 - is deg higher now on the back of track changes since then?
They erased one corner, but others got faster... i think it's close to the same thing.

I also think no one will touch C5s unless there's an extremely late SC.

(btw, when i look at the track map at the start of this thread, the T6 to T11 is a huge DRS zone, was this the way it has always been ? something feels odd; did they add an extra zone here somewhere?)
Should normally be the same as in 2023. They actually added it in 2022 already, but back then then didn't race it due to safety concerns.

Edit: it contributed to a pretty close race last year, btw. Top 10 were within ~half a minute before the late safety car/red flag.

Yeah .. Ver was about 10s ahead of Ham in 2nd, and think P10 was a little less than 40s adrift when the last red flag was called for by Kmag. But we had the red flag for Albon earlier already, plus the two SC's early in the race. And Ver went onto the grass once in T15.
So all in all you'd say the 10s between 1st and 2nd were at least a bit flattered and not really representative.
Then again, this track is known for these kind of shenanigans ...

This is the slowest race thread in a long while I'd say.

Bahrain trim

Mercedes and ferrari running too light no? I doubt this is the wing they’ll use. This track is medium high downforce usually

That’s the wing from Bahrain for Ferrari. It’s the right wing.

With early DRS activation as well, breaking the 1s gap will be a big factor on Sunday

Australia was clearly an early example of rb19 struggling with street circuits. Gaps were small there

Russell tried to go fast in T10 and Mercedes denied him strongly. Blimey.
