Toyota stay ahead as king of fins

In recent years the Toyota cars have become known for their chunky car layout and the use of an incredible amount of fins and flaps all over the body. Although the TF107 looks like an improvement compared to the TF106, the engineers still seem to love to develop fins to fit to the car in every possible area. Looking at the image - a close-up of the outer part of the front wing - shows the regular front wing with above it an extra - red - element, similar most of the other teams by now. However, a small black winglet attached to the FWEP is unique for Toyota. Time will tell if the team got their focus right or are still looking too much to the details.

Those additional winglets are there to make up for the lost downforce on the wingtips do to \'tip effects\'. Gascoyne is a very smart guy and he introduced those, so they aren\'t without their purpose.

Yes, I know when Gascoyne left. Have you noticed that the Aerodynamics have changed very little since then. That Front Wing was introduced in Canada last year.

Actually, the reason I\'m pretty sure Gascoyne designed that Front Wing is because Discovery Channel did an episode on the Toyota F1 team and it was all about the development of that exact Front Wing. It took months to develop it so I\'m sure that Gascoyne had a part in it\'s creation.

Jarno did end up scoring 3 points in that race, so I guess they considered the wing a success.
