Team: Scuderia Ferrari SpA

Team: John Barnard (TD), Gustav Brunner (CD), Claudio Lombardi (HE), Jean Todt (SD), Luca Di Montezemolo (President)
Drivers: Jean Alesi (27), Nicola Larini (27), Gerhard Berger (28)

The Ferrari 412T1 was used during the first part of the season, until it was replaced by the 412T1B due to the extensive changes that were made during the season. It was driven by Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger throughout the season, except during the Pacific and San Marino GPs, where Nicola Larini replaced the injured Alesi.

The 412T1 was initially powered by the Type 41 engine, but replaced by the Type 43 engine in qualifying as of the San Marino GP, and in races as of the German GP in Hockenheim, then already in the 412T1B. The Type 43 engine was a complete new design from scratch, done by Claudio Lombardi and Osamu Goto, featuring a wider V-angle between the cylinder banks and a shorter stroke.
