F1 engine sound problem

I preferred the sound of the V10s from the mid 90's.

Here's a crazy idea though. Why not just give the teams a range of engine configurations to choose from? Might spice things up a bit and make it quite interesting.

What has Ferrari not liking the new engine format got to do with the price of petrol? The other engine manufacturers are happy with it so Ferrari will just have to dry up and tow the line.
