The other thing that is specified is the location of 5 camera locations, the front ones will not allowed to be on the nosecone or on the wing supports as the FIA want them to be at a specified location between the wishbones on the front suspension. The T Cam remains in its present location. The cameras either side of the cockpit must be at a specified location as well.
I thought the step wings on the front wing were also being outlawed as well and the number of elements being reduced to 2???
The rear wing i thought was also to have a standardised 150mm centre section as well with a standardised DRS mechanism as well.
However, the one area that has been could be returning, but not certain yet is the Front Flap Adjust on the front wing as to allow the drivers to tune the cars front wing during the race using the same regs from 2009 and 2010. This has been missed this year when the driver has had a small incident and the step plane has gone from the car.
However, its the rules in 2015 or 2016 that could have the biggest change in the look of a F1 car, and that is the introduction of up to 18" wheels from the current 13.3 inch diameter ones. Some teams have asked for the 18" to be abandoned for a hybrid 15" or 16" diameter wheel. Id like the increase of wheel diameter to be increased to a 16" diameter as it would mean the cars would be slower thru the corners, but faster on the straights. Id keep the widths pretty much the same as the current breed of F1 wheel. It would add around 12.5Kg to each corner of the car in weight.
Im not sure how people would feel about limiting change of aero spec on wings and diffusers would work, say limit the teams to 5 spec changes a year, once raced you can use that spec or any previous spec again that year, meaning Monaco and Monza specs would be effectively banished to history. However Monaco specs are similar to Hungaroring and Singapore and Monza specs are similar to Canada and Spa specs as well. Teams can test as many specs they want in Friday sessions, but once a car is sent out on a Saturday that spec is locked in for the year.
