Watching the videos of the F2004 got me really nostalgic about that era, even though I wasn't following until the next season.

BMW Sauber F1.08

I loved this era and I loved this car. Any Mclaren will always look good to me, but that BMW Sauber looked like it would just eat any car on the track even if it didn't win.

I also loved the livery on the Spyker cars in '07. They looked great.

For me as well, either the BMW Sauber F1.08 or the Ferrari F2008... love the look of all the aerodynamic appendages on those cars, especially the swept back bits on the Ferrari. The BMW also had fantastic livery as well as that monster of a front wing.

To be fair, all pre-2012 noses look amazing in retrospect.

I think the 2009 cars looked like toys.

I don't think it's the wings per se - I think it's more of how the whole thing viewed together looks very disproportionate

The reasons why I hate the current wings (front and rear) are because they look and smack of compromise. For that reason, I will always think the 2008 ultimate-aero cars - specifically, the F2008, is the greatest looking. But they had those awful grooved tyres! They did test the 2009 slick tyres on a few 2008 cars. I remember Valentino Rossi doing a testing session on slicks in the F2008:

I really hate this era of cars – they look more like weapons, with the number of sharp bits sticking out of them than cars. Loathed as I am to admit it, last year's Ferrari is pretty high up on the beautiful F1 car scale to me – it's from the outside a simple design, it's clean, it's not cluttered with stuff all over it, and it's (for the most part) quick.

As far as beauty goes, F1 cars don't have beautiful shapes at all really. Aside from the side pods, they are quite boxy and have 4 massive, ugly wheels ruining the picture. The LMP cars are truly beautiful. But Formula 1 cars are much more striking and imposing

I disagree – but then, I think the Areal Atom is one of the most beautiful road cars I've seen.
