That Ferrari was hardly a Ligier, as good a win as it was.
More could have been done.

To be fair the 96 Ligier was practically a Benetton in Ligier livery though...

A Benetton in navy blue, with "Fabrique en France" written across the back of the rear wing

What about the All American Racers Eagle Mk1 at Belgium in '67?

That was the time when Winkelhockmade that absolutely inspired choice wasn't it? To be fair though -it still wasn't a race win

That Ferrari did not win, it was all done to a certain Gilles Villeneuve

How about John Watson in the MP4-1 Cosworth?

Completely true, not a real race win, but still to be legitimately in the lead of a GP in a car that never finished a race on the lead lap is pretty impressive. He didn't get there just on pit stops either - he passed Kimi on the track.

Frentzen, Jordan, FranceGP 1999. Totally unexpected (IMO)

For an unexpected win I'd like to add in Herbert in the Stewart in 1999 to the mix. It wasn't a bad car by any means but it was an unlikely victory. Probably not as unexpected as Fisichella in 2003.

Given that the Jordan won two races, 6 podiums and finished third in the championship, I think it's hardly a contender for "worst car".

I don't think Alonso can count, as it was a race run to different regulations than the rest of the season. Good drive though.

This should be a fairly easy stat for someone: which race-winning constructor scored the worst rest-of-season? That would be the worst car to ever win a race, objectively speaking.
I was racing I was faster I passed him I won
