Wow this thread is a whole new level of stupid

Why would any team try to sabotage a driver you pay them millions of dollars just so you can mess up a pit stop on purpose? It doesn't make sense. If they wanted the other driver to win they would simply tell them to pull over.

well done, the most laughable thread on F1 Technical

If Ron Dennis was Team Principal then it would be a different story, Hamilton dragged Whitmarsh's name through the mud last year.

The only reason Hamilton is still in Macca is that Ron Dennis is putting pressure on Whitmarsh, don't be surprised I think RD will be making a bid for his old job for 2013.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

If Whitmarsh is doing this he is a big fool. Because sabotaging Hamilton is sabotaging the team and thus his job too.

If this discussion cannot be taken seriously then it might be closed. Fanboy discussion highly discouraged and unwelcome.

Humans process a remarkable ability for pattern recognition, it's fundamental to our evolutionary advantage.

However, it does lead to an unwelcome side effect that we try to find reason in random acts and stupid mistakes. Out that come the conspiracy theories.

This case is a classic example. How often have we heard Button or Hamilton say that they work out a pit strategy to suit themselves? It is not that one driver is deliberately brought into the pits first, but it is a consequence of how they preferred strategies work out. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. I'd say the perceived poor strategies are a mixture of poor judgement by the team combined with human error and a dose of bad luck.

...

Edit to add - There is not one single post in this thread that bothers to list McLaren stops this season. Let alone comparing that data to last season. It's all conjecture & opinion.

Evidence based posts please.

Dont suppose you could take a look at the Mercedes team thread please Richard?
The conspiracy and conjecture on this thread and the aforementioned is plain ridiculous.

As if a team would pay a driver millions and deliberately sabotage not only the driver but also itself.
More could have been done.

Lewis will probably be winning the race, an exhaust will fail and they'll instruct him to pull over 10m from the finish line because Jenson is right behind and can win with a healthy car.
And each time Lewis is ahead of Jenson, the pit crew will fumble Lewis pit stop.

The answer for the question why Button is always pitting 1st is pretty simple. Just look into alphabet - "B" is in front of "H".

So McLaren managed to turn a pole and a chance of a win to yet another damage limitation race. How many times does Hamilton have to cover up for McLarens --- ups. He should seriously consider going to another team if a seat is available.
