I understand how Lewis feels.

I have won 384 trophies on my playstation 3 so far and they're all digital, nothing I can hug when I go to bed or put on display in my living room.

Maybe McLaren could provide him with sets of replica little trophy earrings he could wear to show off?

I'm surprised about this. I was always under the impression that Ferrari drivers kept their own trophies and the team had the replica? I'm sure I remember Schumacher keeping his, and Alonso keeps talking about how he has a trophy from almost every race. Maybe he meant replicas, but that wasn't my understanding.

If two trophies are built at the same time, by the same person - which one is the replica?

Isn't this either down to semantics or just stupidity? If someone claims trophy 1 or 2 is a replica because it's not the same one handed on the podium, then they've lost all sense and there's no negotiating with someone like that.

At most award ceremonies (oscars etc) you get handed a generic award in front of the cameras and pick up yours later. Even uptight precious overpaid pedantic actors don't cry for the award they get handed on stage. What they get is 'their' actual award, to keep. How is this different?

I think the Driver should get the real trophy as the constructor gets one for winning also. Then the constructor should have a replica of the driver's trophy. The driver raced for that win and deserves the actual trophy. How would the constructors feel if the roles were reversed and lewis wanted to real constructors trophy and give them a duplicate?? It wouldn't go over very well. So I think the driver should be entitled to the real trophy. Just my 2¢

If Hamilton ran the entire team from head to toe then the team should have to be quiet and accept the situation.

As you might be able to tell, I like the fact that the team keeps everything or most of them. I happen to like certain drivers, but the teams are the most important aspect of the sport and that is what I respect the most day in and day out. They run the sport and their own operations, and drivers come and go so it is important for teams to be able to have the hardware in their factories to demonstrate their accomplishments as a team. That won't be demonstrated if the trophy is on a mantle or garage.

I understand Lewis' point of view. But he should be aware that without the team (who provide everything), he can't do it as well (winning).

Personally i have given away my hard fought trophies to my team as a gratitude. I believe it would help them in terms of reputation as well.Imagine a sponsor/guest pay a visit to the MTC and that would be a difference between seeing and not seeing Senna's trophies being displayed at the trophy cabinet/room. It would show some pride and legacy of the team that would affect the sponsors/guest's view of the team itself.

a full replica at the team's cost should be more than enough.
