Re: McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

Post

Mp4-29 has a very nice behaviour on track. Ben Anderson who follows the cars at certain points on the track said that Mp4-29 has a very good impression about mp4-29. It results that he has downforce because Kevin can leave very aggresive the corners, and it's a smooth and stabe car under braking ann when the car is entering the corners.

"13:05 From trackside, BEN ANDERSON tells us that Magnussen "looks more aggressive" than Bottas and Rosberg into the hairpin that leads onto the backstraight. The McLaren and the Mercedes are running at a similar pace at the moment, while Bottas is lapping around 3s quicker in the 1m40s"

"12:58 Raikkonen is in the pits once again, and from trackside BEN ANDERSON has noticed some interesting points at the exit of Turns 1/2:

Very inconsistent upshifts from the Ferrari coming out of T1/2. The Mercedes cars are a lot smoother, particularly McLaren. Sutil is getting wheelspin through T2."

Williams and McLaren doing a troublefree race sim and have over 90 laps completed.

Bottas race sim looks very good. Magnussen times are pretty sh*t compared to ROS and BOT... McLaren tyre eater or drag queen?
Where Can I find the laptimes of these race simulations?

Weather is a great point in Bahrain's choice. To properly test the cooling requirements and tyre usage, a hotter spot is needed. Bahrain fits well (and is half way to Australia too).

Reliability problems again for Mercedes AMG team and Ferrari towards the end of the session. While Ferrari has stopped on the track with two minutes left before the end, Mercedes announced on their twitter page that their programe was curtailed running late this afternoon. It seems that W05 is the fastest car on the grid this year, but they had issues almost every day. With only 2 weeks before FP1 in Australia this puts Mercedes in a dangerous situation. They may not capitalise their speed in the opening stages. A mature team principal will always say that it's better that these problems happen in testing, but if these problems happens almost every day it may be something fundamental with the general design of the car. Yes they did a lot of laps, but just because that when the car was ok, they keep running it, but despite all this miles, that doesn't mean they have a reliable car if the car is breaking every day. About Ferrari we really can't read very much even at this stage of the testing. It may be a good car but they don't want to show us anything, but if the rumours about 75 BHP less than Mercedes engine with only one day because the engine homologation, they may not be even the third force on the grid, as Williams showed both speed and consistancy. All these things are relative, we don't know nothing for sure, except that something on W05 is breaking every day of testing.

I may be mistaken but I've not heard any of the drivers complain about excessive marbles nor have I seen any images of excessive marbles off line which can only be a good thing?

Just a tad sensationalized your claimed issues for Mercedes AMG Team...

Considering they have done the most mileage of any team I can't see your justification that they are in serious problem, considering where all the Renault based teams are currently...

Every issue they have had has been fixed within a short time, hence the most mileage covered, they will be in a better position than any other team as to how hard they can push the car, and remember that is what "testing" is all about.

Not an optimum "race simulation" if you use 3 types of rubber, no? (Magnussen)

Things breaking are probably indicative of a team beginning to test the limits and not just circulating to keep the km count going.

RB would take Merc's issues right now.

a lot of Merc's issues will be slightly on purpose now. By that i mean they will be pushing the car to the limit to see what breaks ready for Aus. The position i see merc in now is not that they have a problem but that they are now preparing properly for race weekends. They have gone through the bedding in stage and the reliability testing and now they are pushing the car hard to see what breaks.
