The FIA in it's abysmal wisdom would want to control exactly how much electricity each car would have. So this would be done by putting contact strips on the track surface providing current to the cars through braided metal strips running underneath. The cars would then have vertical rods descending beneath them which would run in grooves cut into the track. This would also add a much needed safety element in keeping the cars from running off the track.

Or has this been done already? Hmmmm......

What if you harvest the energy from the heated up air coming out of the radiators, said to be as much as the ICE's mechanical output, by feeding the hot air to a compressor, further heating it up to at least 300 C and power a compact steam generator?

Then run a steam turbine coupled to a generator, storing electricity for the MGU-K!

Use the heat to run an absorption chiller.

Well how about a methane collection tank? It's abundant, naturally occurring in most life forms, particularly cows and humans.
It can be used to add additional power and noise to the V6's.

The Consumption of methane should be accelerated, as...

If we don't use it...it will eventually kill us. I can't think of a better reason to use the stuff.

All that would be required is keep the drivers fed on a high fibre diet of say, baked beans. Collection would be relatively simple with a rudimentary pipe(lubricated or non...drivers choice) attached to said driver in the most efficient way possible. It would also stop a lot of hot air escaping the cockpit, so team owners wouldn't need PR lackies following the guys around.

Save the planet, save money. It's Brilliant!

Brilliant indeed, I would however recommend the traditional swedish thursday peasoup for race-preparation, but beans will work;

The energy dispersal in that classic clip alone should power the grid for Monaco. I shall experiment with this swedish peasoup you speak so highly of, and duly post my findings.

Here's all you need for an energy-efficient friday Fox;

How about a motor generator unit on the steering column? Drivers weave left and right on the straights to generate electricity, balancing increased tyre wear against the better acceleration. Combined with piezos in the suspension we could practically solve climate change :P !

You could fit little scoops alongside the plank to collect tyre marbles...

Et voila, moving offline to overtake now gives you a rocket boost ;)

That's an unlimited resource amc, transferring steering-torque to wheel-torque, a sterling idea!

The better your wind turbine...
