First non Mercedes-Benz win in 2014?

Post

Which track will host the first non Mercedes-Benz win, without reliability being a factor?

Barcelona, Monaco?

If it IS possible, yes I would say Monaco with Vettel or Alonso on top.

With traction being an issue for both those guys I'd say monaco is not likely.
Also, rosberg and hamilton go well at this track.

Yep, Monaco. If it doesn't happen there, then Singapore.

Mônaco, Vettel - Alonso - Lewis.
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

Maybe Barcelona and Monaco in the near future but i doubt both of them because Mercedes has even more pace hidden and i dont think they wont add upgrades during that time to compete with the Redbull type of chasis they have.

As for McLaren, racing boss Eric Boullier was forthright when asked if the British team can close the gap to Mercedes for the start of the European season, when the first major development steps will be made.

"No," he answered.

Is Boullier confident the gap can be closed at all in 2014? "That's the right question," he added. "Maybe by Europe next year, yes."

I think Monaco is the most likely in the near future, all it takes is a changeable qualifying and you could easily get a non-Merc winner but Rosberg looked good there last year and but for a mistake on S1 of Hamilton's quali lap he probably would have won.

I think Monaco is actually fairly unlikely. The engine's power may not matter so much but Mercedes have the most drivable engine and the best energy recovery. Being a stop start track they'll constantly be using the MGU-K to smooth the power delivery giving the Merc guys the more predictable car - very important on such a confidence / rhythm dependent circuit. Plus they have two drivers who do well at the circuit.

When they do lose it's likely to be a Red Bull that beats them and it will probably be in a rain affected race. I also don't think Ferrari will win a race all season unless there are some unusual circumstances or reliability issues.

Never count Nando out in Spain. Lewis was mighty in 2012. The W05 where terrible in 2013. RB does seems like a likely candidate.
