RIP Sir Jack Brabham 88

Post

Today we mourn the loss of the late great Sir Jack Brabham 1959, 1960 and 1966 Formula 1 World champion. In retirement he was the founder of the Brabham racing team which saw the likes of Bernie Ecclestone, Charlie Whiting and Herbie Blash who managed the team in 1973.

A true gentleman, rest in peace

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

RIP Sir Jack

Still the only driver to have won a world championship in his own car. A feat that is unlikely to be achieved again!

The little Aussie battler that could. A fair dinkum "engineer/racer" of the likes well not likely see again. Not content just to drive the pants off cars, he made the bloody things too - and fast ones at that. Australian motorsport owes him much.

That he is the only man to win the WDC driving his own car speaks volumes about his importance to the sport. The complete competitor - constructor, driver, engineer and mechanic all in one. He deserves every accolade he receives. =D>
