AMuS gallery of proposed 2017 aero set-up of F1 cars.

I have to say i like it, but the Front tires need to get a bit wider too imho. Wider Cars, return of the Beam Wing, big Barge Boards, bigger Diffusor, lower and wider Rear Wing... yay. =D>

I really do not understand why they are messing around with the rear wing elements. As you have only a limited amount of fuel you have to be efficient in creating downforce. So nobody will do 5-or-more-tier-wings except for Monaco and maybe Hungary cause on other tracks you would run out of fuel. And if the cars are to fast, just reduce the max. fuel allowance.

The rear wing has to have that shape? Can't just be like the ones in 2008? It reminds me of this: Image
And that isn't pretty.

Wasn't the wing raised to reduce the impact of a following car? Lowering it seems quite daft if that is the case?

I liked the swept back look of the front wing from above and also the lower rear wing from the sides.
With the rear wings lower will this eliminate the use of monkey seats? Will they be used or required?

And yes wings were raised to allow cleaner air to the rear wings but it can be compensated with larger diffuser I guess.

Can´t wait to see the monster diffusers on these machines.
But these regs won´t solve overtaking, in fact with them creating even more dirty air at even lower speeds the problem will be even bigger.

I´m glad i don´t give two s**ts about overtaking though.

edit: noticed profile view showed flat exhaust, just an error or by design?

2016 should have in season testing

- with no limitation on number of cars

- 30,000 km test distance per year

- WCC gets 6 days

- 2nd in WCC will get 12 days

- last team in WCC will get 30 days

- test days can be transferable from one team to another

- base price for a transfer set by FIA at 1 million pounds or sold higher based on demand

Under 2008 rules overtaking was difficult because following another car would result in understeer, after a lot of development to the FWs (a lot less restricted than the rear end) we are back to square one.

More downforce from the floor and restricting the FW to something "GP2 like" seems like a valid attempt while at the same time achieving the objective of making the cars go faster.

I think current rules rear rules should be kept as it is

The rewrite should focus on increasing the front end grip both in mechanical and aero.
- A lower front wing (0 mm from reference plane),
- without the central neutral section,
- wider wing back to 1800mm,
- longer wing section (reduced gap between front axle and front end of the wing)

This should effectively move the balance of the car forward there by being a less of an issue while following another car.
