Well friends, I'd like to pick up this thread because:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120865
A majority also agreed to a ban on windtunnel testing, leading to a greater use of CFD, though the specifics have yet to be discussed.
F1's governing body the FIA and commercial rights holder FOM hold six votes apiece.

It is understood Williams, Ferrari and Mercedes were against a ban on windtunnel testing, while McLaren, Red Bull and Force India voted in favour.

Regarding gearbox cost-savings, only McLaren and Force India were in favour, with the FIA and FOM's votes allowing the vote to be passed by majority.

So no track side testing, no wind tunnels. All just theoretical testing.

Why not just run simulator races, would save lots of money if they never have to leave the garage.

How can this be done? this is such a BS.

Nowadays everything gets tested in wint-tunnels, from road cars to airplanes..
But the pinnacle of motorsport is not allowed to do it?.. :wtf:

What is next, fixed chassis or something? mandatory front and rear wings?

New regulations only shift resource allocations. It won't save anything if they ban wind tunnel use other than wind tunnel use...

This will have the opposite effect of what the FIA want. It'll make it harder for the trailing teams to discover the "low hanging" fruit that the top teams have discovered but they haven't yet.
