Not very often with these kind of prices to take your car for a track day...

I did consider it, just to say I've been. But that's twice the price of other tracks, and I've heard actual running time is about 90 minutes to 2 hours for a "day".

Nah...
There is something happening at the circuit nearly every day of the year. It's hardly sitting there collecting dust. I've yet to see a credible source for the bankruptcy claims in this thread, I think this is just another case of media sensationalism... :wtf:

More information here, but this is not a news story.

The OP does make a very important point. I have been a fan for 25 years, driven mainly by passion and excitement. That doesn't exist for me anymore.

F1 is a sanitised shadow of it's former self. I no longer care if i a miss a race.

I am a bit dissapointed by being bombarded here. The problem with british circuit are debts due to renovation of the track. I bet the backroungd of this story is problem with payments of loans. They never got all of the money out of their bag, we all know we live in economy that works by loans. In 08 crisis emerged on that account. They did sold out the event (f1 race), but they had to considerably lower the prices of tickets with unchanged fee to Ecclestone.

First link (which proves they still need to pay off the debts of renovation): http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12040/ ... o-a-report

The hosting fee alone is 24 million dollars, from which in best case scenario they raised arround 11.5 million pounds with ticket sales (no sponsors are included). We have a deficit here. Every year maintence work has to be done, which also costs money. The directors compaint about f1 is especially in the direction the modern f1 is. 15 years ago, grandstands were full, even with much more expensive tickets.

The track itself is near to be sold.

Hope i proved something, especially to those 2, that were unable to give a reasonable comment and rather bombed my comment. Aparently some people have excepted the new f1, for me personally what is happening in the last decade is a crime.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

You're talking about Silverstone as if it only exists for Formula 1 races, which is completely wrong. It's a completely independent business, F1 is just 1 of the many events the venue hosts. There's no story here, it's normal media sensationalism of comments taken out of context.

Part of the problem is they sold off a load if land so don't have the rental income
