Yes he has a rich dad, but many of the drivers in F1 have rich families, connections and/or backing from a huge company from a young age.
I'm reading Damon Hill's autobiography. In the late 80s he was trying to get into F1 and Eddie Jordan told him he needed to bring in money if he wanted a ride. It's beginning to look like everyone in the entire history of F1 is a "pay driver".
Don't say that aloud - for a lot of forum posters it'll be like finding out there's no Santa Claus!

Dany Kvyat staying with Torro Rosso for 2017

I guess that Pierre Gasly really pissed of Marko by mouthing off that he replacing Kvyat mid season 2016

Yeah, good for Kvyat.

I think fundamentally Kvyat has the potential to be a great driver. He has been underperforming for a year, which got worse when he got sacked from Red Bull, however he has come out of it as a better driver. If he can continue to push Sainz every race this year and in 2017, then thats only good for the team. Reasonable decision in my opinion. Gasly will have to do something else until 2018.

He cleared that up with a call to Marko. He was misquoted. So it wouldn't have factored in at all.

TR keeps Kvyat, well deserved. So many nailed qualifying sessions (no), starts (no), race craft (no) and last but not least race pace (goddamn awful) . Dude did everything to get himself fired and is remarkably still in F1, fourth season in a row, kind of like Raikkonen :D .

'17 is shaping to be a classic season. F1 is a sand box for three or four teams but at least hideous, caricature tyres are back. As if Red Toro wasn't enough now Wolff is running around trying to flog Wehrlein and Ocon. I guess Mercedes' world of fiction team Manor is not enough to contain all this talent. The same Wolff that couple seasons ago didn't see the point of Bottas moving to Ferrari.

AMUS

BOT can't exit Williams; Renault engineers strongly for MAG. NASr with Brazil nationality (Bernie E. market wise) and 15$ to FINDIA? Ocon & Wehrlein in the Manor queue....

Like I said long time ago: There will not be as much movement as some expect.
But Kvyat surprises me. Is Sainz confirmed?

Rumors of Nasr going to Force India are intensifying. Various Italian sources claim he is very close to signing a deal with the team.

I found interesting that Bernie Ecclestone is helping Nasr in the negotiations. Not because he likes him. It's because of the Brazilian audience in F1. Massa will retire, so Nasr will be the only Brazilian driver in F1 next year.

I don't think many Brazilian will wake up at dawn to watch the driver of your country in the last positions of the grid. F1 audience in Brazil is very big. Losing it would be a millionaire loss for Ecclestone.
