If they can retain their chief designer yes, because we all expect a much improved Renaul PU.

2018 would be the perfect year to sign a long time contract with Renault.
A fast competitive car is funny enough not really important for STR, as long as they can compete in the midfield. Their goal is a platform for development drivers. A reliable car which they understand (so they can understand and monitor drivers development) is much more important.

Rubbish indeed. The article itself is just a rundown of the british GP, with no mention whatsoever of the alleged signing

I'm curious only about Renault McLaren Williams and Force India as I'm sure RedBull/Ferrari/Mercedes will remain the same.

Apparently in this week's Autosport, they've said the following
Magnussen and Palmer both dropped with Massa and Ocon for 2017
Jenson and Williams held talks recently
Gutierrez in doubt for 2017 with Haas but Grosjean likely to stay
Kvyat will stay at Toro Rosso for another year
So chew on that

That double change in Renault for 2017 has sense to me. Massa is a very experienced driver and his work could be very useful with the upcoming change in the rules, Renault need some experience and next season is essential to build a competitive car for 2018. I guess this would be his last season and in 2018 Sainz would arrive.

Massa's best before date has expired ages ago. Pleaso no.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Yes Massa is one of the older drivers, but for me it looks like he's still performing reletive to his car "on par". With the exemption of 2011, he always scored a few podiums. His wins were a long time ago, but that might been that the ferraris of '06, '07 and '08 were in fact exceptional good.

Palmer is a leftover from Genii's days (he only got the job by paying part of Lotus's debts last year), Magnussen was a last minute signing and his performances have been far from brilliant. On the other hand, Ocon, apart from being french, is one of tomorrow's stars and Massa will bring lots of experience to the team, wich will be crucial in a year with brand new rules. So fine by me
Jenson ending his career at Williams? Fine by me too, with the added bonus of paving way to one of 2017's highlights: the Vandoorne/Alonso duel...
Grosjean scored 28 points so far, Gutierrez none. Judging by performance alone, Esteban has no chance, but let's not forget he has Carlos Slim's money behind him...
I believe Kvyat will indeed stay at least another year, but that's just because Pierre Gasly has yet to justify Red Bull's faith in him

I think Grosjean will pair Ocon at Renault for 2018.

I don't think that we'll se much movement on the driversmarket except at the back of the field. All the top teams are closed.

I think he is doing a fine job and his experience would be very useful in Renault.
