Looking at the numbers, I don't think there were two rival cars in history that were this equally matched. Maybe just a slight edge for the F2007.

The reason that "we" didn't notice it at the time was the reletive weak second quarter of the season for Kimi and at the same time the rise of Hamilton and the building pressure between him and Alonso.

That was interesting season because the Mclaren and the Ferrari had different strengths, Ferrari was better at faster corners and Mclaren would take the lead when the track was tight, bumpy and low grip.

To see which was better it would require a track for track analysis which i'm not willing to do.

The "but Alonso is much better than Raikkonen/Massa argument" doesn't have any merit, at some tracks the Ferrari was less at home than the Macca, Alonso, or Hamilton, with all their talent wouldn't change that.
Maybe they could've hustled the F2007 to a better result at a certain track, but the Mclaren would still be the better car on the tracks that favored them.

The argument is not Alonso, but Alonso and Hamilton are far better than Kimi and Felipe, and that, if true, apply no matter what car is driving each one.

So if we acept both Fernando and Lewis are better drivers than the red pairing, then, after watching how close was the battle in that and the next season, you only can conclude the F2007 compensated the driver difference. If they were different cars at each track is irrelevant, the point is what car was better overall thoughout the whole season, after racing on all tracks of the calendar, so it´s the average what counts, not if this car was better here but slower there.

And the average says both packs finished the season/s almost perfectly matched, so if we agree Alonso and Hamilton are better drivers than Massa and Raikonnen, we should agree F2007 was faster overall than MP4-22. How much? Same difference wich exist between Alonso/Hamilton and Kimi/Massa. If Alonso days in red with those two drivers are a valid comparison, we might say F2007 was around half a second faster

Very basic analysis I know, but we all have seen what was the difference when they drove same car, so if driving different cars the difference was tighter the conclusion is obvious.
