MS to replace Todt?

Post

I have heard this from quite a few people that MS really doesnt want to quit F1 at this stage but in the present circumstances it is best that he does................so if he actually does he could well take up the team boss role when Jean Todt retires after this season...

I can it as a possibility, Micheal has great strengths in team organization, strategy, motivation. But as always, if he chose a position, it would be as top dog.

Some sources already say he runs the team (unofficialy) making all important decisions and so on. RB is already left out in a way.

I'm not sure about that. It is a largely managerial position which is a quite specialised skill set (especially when dealing with a company like Ferrari). MS doesn't exactly have 15-20 years of large corporation management experience and to put him into a position alike CEO would be quite a risk I think.
As a figurehead on the other hand, he would be great!

I disagree, I think he would make a great team boss. He is a self made man who knows exactly what it takes to win world championships.

Two more words--Jackie Stewart.

He also has great organizational and business skills, but ended up selling his team to Ford after promising but inconsistant results.

On the whole, great F1 drivers have made mediocre team owners/managers with few exceptions. But Schumacher will probably be the next exception to the rule. He is incredibly driven and focused. I just can't see him failing. Enzo had a well earned reputation for manipulating the FIA, and I see Schumi as the perfect heir to that throne.

In America there have been more successful crossovers--Bobby Rahal and Michael Andretti to name two--but the rules favor this with tight restrictions. Which is the way Mosely has F1 going now with the engine freeze, single tire manufacturer, etc.

Personally, I think MS should have had his Super License revoked in '97 along with his points. But I also thank God that he chose motorsports instead of joining the German military. Another organization with a history of dominance. Remember what they did 60 years ago.....Sig Hiel! Hiel Schumi!

Of course he can replace Todt. By the way we all know ho is the head of Ferrari team. I'm not talking about organization but making race decisions. It is not the person who still holds timers in his hand when there is a 1000 car instruments that he can see on the monitors. Behind all strategy successes is RB. He is the brain of the team. If schumi stays in ferrari, i hope he replace todt and not RB.

Unlike Prost and Stewart, its easier for Schumacher to take over ferrari, since he already has a huge influence within the team and ferrari is well established within F1. Even if ferrari start to go downhill id schumi takes over, they still have the FIA on theire side......mayb they'll consider all the other teams as moving aero devices and will ban them all....

Would MS be prepared to sit down and spend 6+ hours per day writing management paperwork to keep the company running? I've never met the guy but I'm sure it isn't something he is familiar with doing.
Jean Todt, on the other hand is a professional manager/director and worth all his euro cents.

The Italian press at Monza reported on Saturday that Michael Schumacher could stay at the Ferrari team in 2007 in a managerial role.

Apparently, the 37-year-old German might be Jean Todt's assistant next year before taking over as team principal in the future, according to sports daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

This month's F1 racing magazine seems to indicate that JT is already managing the road car division.
"GM and Team principal JT is in day-to-day charge of both the f1 team and road car division, and is answerable to the president and CEO, LM who is also the chairman of Fiat"
