Ferrari Days 2006

Post

Some of the pics I took Sunday at the Ferrari Days (I’ll upload more when I’ve time) :

First a few cars of the Historic challenge.

They were separated in 3 main categories (Grid A, B and C) based on year of production and brake system (discs or drums) and there was a separate race per category. Contrarily to what one could think given the value of the cars, they were really racing, pushing quite hard.

Ferrari 206P, 1964 :

A few pics of the F1 exhibition “race” with all the Ferrari drivers :

1... 2... 3... 4... :

[IMG:150:128]http://img433.imageshack.us/img433/299/ ... ug0.th.jpg[/img]

End of the race and consequently last lap of MS at Monza...
[IMG:150:128]http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/817/ ... iw0.th.jpg[/img]

at least... that’s what everybody thought, but while I was getting back home I heard a familiar V12 sound, just the time to take the camera and an FXX passed at full speed in front of me. Then I looked at the pic, black, number 30 out of 29 sold to clients, that familiar chin barely visible thru the window...

I assume you can’t keep a fish away from water for more than few minutes...

Regardless of your feelings about Michael Schumacher, I think this is a pretty powerful picture taken at the same event.

As promised a few more :

500 F2, 1953 :
[IMG:150:128]http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/6408/5 ... ti1.th.jpg[/img]

Never raced but already included some concepts that will be important for the following generations. 312B3 nicknamed “Spazzaneve” (snow-plough), 1972 :
[IMG:150:128]http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/3012 ... bm2.th.jpg[/img]
[IMG:150:128]http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2162 ... nd3.th.jpg[/img]

The 312B3 that raced in 1974. Forghieri’s modification of the previous year deluding B3 (penned by Colombo), it was also sort of racing laboratory for the introduction of some concepts to be adopted on the following T-series.

Talk about cab forward... 126 C4, 1984 :

F93A, 1993 :
[IMG:150:128]http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/2058 ... ba5.th.jpg[/img]

Not the fastest, not the prettiest, still that V12 sings, F412 T1, 1994 :

Time goes by...
[IMG:150:128]http://img437.imageshack.us/img437/2509 ... fj0.th.jpg[/img]

Then, as visible on the fantastic pic bhallg2k posted there were all the cars that MS raced with in his long career at Ferrari, F310 (1996), F310B (1997), F300 (1998), F399, F1-2000, F2001 -> F2005, 248F1.

Oh yeah, really a great day, for Ferrari fans certainly but for cars & motorsport enthusiasts in general.
Quote of the day comes from a 5 or 6 years old kid sitting couple of rows behind me, at a given point he said, in that very serious tone that kids often have : “Daddy, in my entire life I never saw so many beautiful cars at once”... the way he said it made me smile, but I bet that most of 45000+ people present that day could say the same even if several times older than him.
