£10 charge for spectators @ BGP test

Post

http://www.silverstone.co.uk/html/ra_f1test.php

"Silverstone is opening up the spectator terraces from Luffield all the way up the Pit Straight. with tickets priced at just £10" ... for the British Grand Prix test in June (19-21).

The full 2007 calendar for Silverstone is now out.. But the Sept testing session dates seem to have disappeared (don't know if the session's been cancelled or will be put back on at a later date).

Damn, I was hoping to go to the September test as I would hopefully be down that area round then, anyway £10 for the best seats, I have to be there.

latest update.. Sept test session at silverstone has been cancelled. and the £10 fee looks like its a general admittance charge, which doesn't guarantee a specific seat.

I wouldn't worry about getting a seat, some of the best views at Silverstone aren't seated anyway - like watching the cars go past at the Maggots/Beckets complex - stunning. Besides I can't imagine there will be enough in attendance to fill the grandstands even if tickets were free...

Assuming i'm not on holiday sign me up!! :D

The viewing is restricted to Luffield through to Copse so watching cars through Maggotts/Becketts isn't possible unless you want to sneak past the security at Bridge (easily possible, done it my self). It's a good day out even at £10 providing the weather stays fair, which shouldn't be a problem i n June.

I'm not worried and not really after a seat anyway as I'll be up there armed with my camera on all three days so will be on the terraces most probably. And hopefully trying to get over to the pitside for the lunch time walk.

standing on the exit of bridge looking towards priory is the best view in my opinion

the cars are hard on the throttle plus you can see who is really on it and who's not (normally ralf)

That feels like a bit of a rip off, bearing in mind it's usually free access to the same area.

The end of season tests are always the best ones as they're a bit less ferverently marshalled. Hence we've been up on the grass banking at bridge before watching the cars coming from Abbey.

Means you get shots like this.

There's a fantastic one we got of Jenson Button's Honda at the same point, looking down into the cockpit. Unfortunately I can't find that online at the mo.

If you can get to the end of the pitlane at Copse.
All the better.
