Below are 2 graphs showing the rate in which every driver of the top 4, as well as their teams, have been accumulating points through out the season, up to the last race which will take place in Interlagos, Brazil:
The next 2 shows what would have been the situation with the old points system (10,6,4,3,2,1):
Very interesting to see that the old system would have improved Raikkonen's situation, as he would have had 83 points, in comparison to Hamilton's 87 and Alonso's 81.
But while the drivers situation would have been a bit closer, the battle between the teams would have been maybe less interesting, as McLaren's lead would have grown to 18 points, instead of the current 9.
*Needless to say, McLaren were given their points back only for the purpose of this comparison , and the deduction of constructor points by the stewards of the Hungarian GP was taken into account.
More conclusions or thoughts will be welcomed.
