Let these guys have and name their own team like they want!
They wont go far beyond the back of the grid and it is good for the sport to have more than 20 cars. Dont forget that a slow F1 car nowdays is still very very fast and its nice to see backmakers fighting between them cause they risk more than frontmakers.

I have been told that Indians are good for programming software and now that ECUs are standard and programming them not, maybe they can extract something from there :roll:

I have to work with Global Sourcing Partners (TCS/Wipro - Indian "consultants") that our idiot bosses gave our jobs too. They, the GSP's, need help boiling a kettle....

But I'm all for sponsorship of F1 teams from growing markets etc etc...I just don't like "working" with them.

Carlos Slim should purchase a F1 team and name it Force Mexico :roll:

The next step would be to actually have a Mexican GP within a few years.

Well how does that matter what name the team has?

All that matters is how will they perform?Will there be any progress or they will also vanish as there previous owners?

As a true F1 fan thats what is my major concern.I hardly care too much about the team's name.

I agree the names poor, but really, in the grand scheme of things, its not worth getting all angry about. I don't know enough about Mallaya to comment on whether or not he's a "douchebag" but from two or three interviews I've read about him, he seems to be a rich and driven man with a strong patriotic side to him (the latter being a cheif cause of the silly name for the team).

All of which, frankly, is what they need. I'm half indian, and very proud of it too, its a growing economy and I believe Mallaya's finacial backing (and business now-how in order to secure more sponsors) will drive the team forward, which can only be a good thing for the team and for the sport.

Come on Force India!

It doesnt matter at all what the name is.

But it is a Crap name! I Can just see all the Jokes now. Force to Retire, Force to Back, Down Force and then Finaly at the end of this Force to Sell up. :wink:

Just kiddin, Jor-Mid-Spy-Indi Force (i am sure thats something to do with power rangers), has to have some stablity at some point.

Vijay Mallya is the man to look out for. He has turned things around for India in F1. Force India is not a brilliant name, but no one can change it, its accepted. So, hopeful future for Narain, Karun and Armaan. Go India!! Looking forward for a GP in Gurgaon in 2010, ill be there for sure.

Nope.. I wouldnt continue my post with a bashing of britishers just cause axle's nationality coloumn reads Uk.. In my 6 weeks of UK life I haven't found anything that I could mention as bad about the people here.. all have been very friendly !

Back to names : I do feel that the name lacks style and substance to be associated with the glamour world of formula 1 ( I thought the same about Super aguri :!:

) Then again, its mallya's money and its upto him to decide how he wants to name them !!

For all those connected to India by family or birth, welcome to the world of Formula One Constructors. As a Canadian, I always took pride whenever something connected by Canada is associated with Formula One. We had Jacques, and Gilles. There are other connections, the old Wolf-Williams, and even BAR.
It is a source of personal national pride when you can see something associated with your nation involved in the peak of motorsport, Formula One. So to all Indians, welcome, enjoy, and it's my personal pleasure to meet you all.

Mallya wants to bring F1 to India and that's his patriotism that has made him rename the team.

F1 has always been based on the rivalry of national pride, in F1, football, cricket, basketball, many other sports I agree with the last 4 posters. India entering F1 to the mix is welcome. By and large sport is a good outlet for national pride, I refer to the the less savoury national policies with the sole purchase of your own countries benefit. Just as trade approaches standard international rules, so does sport. Yes ,yes ther are many other variables...but this is the one stream I support in this post. Welcome to the fans, teams and sponsors of India.

I do hope they can figure out a better livery though. Currently it's absolutely horrible, and it makes the car look like a shoebox.

They have said it's interim.

I will miss the orange, at least you knew exactly which car you were looking at, like the Jordans of old.

I hope they choose something distinctive/eyecatching yet cohesive.
