TV coverage changes for 2003

Post

According to reports in the Financial Times, terrestrial TV stations around the world are expected to be offered no-cost access to digital coverage of Formula One motor races, currently only available to pay-per-view broadcasters. The move is said to be a way to combat declining audiences around the globe.

During last weekend's Italian Grand Prix, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, with approval from the FIA, put the new move to F1 team bosses, however they are yet to give it their seal of approval. The new deal at one hand decreases incomes from television, but on the other hand needs to be freely distributed, as the team's sponsors might retract from their deals because the lack of world wide coverage they pay for.
