Post

Looks like a few teams (BMW and Toyota for definate) are using the test to evaluate their Monza aero updates.

The Honda doesn't seem to be in a high DF config either...

Actually they could be doing 2009 testing alongside Monza testing.

The Ferrari appears to have the nose hole on so I'm guess that they are focussed (today) on Hungary.

The BMW is equiped with a KERS system.

The sidepods contain batteries.

One of the mechanics was electrocuted this morning touching one part, he has nothing serious.

This is only going to escalate the nay-sayers opinions that KERS isn't safe.

Anyway...

I wonder why they are running a low downforce setup at Jerez since it's a high downforce track. Would doing so really help with testing the aero for Monza?

Also, I can't wait for the cars to roll out on 2009 tyres, as we may see some teams using 2009 prototypes :)

Axl, it's an updated F1.08 fitted with KERS and adapted to some of the new aero rules for 2009. I think that's why the sidepod loos loke that.

In August there is a test at Monza, so most of the teams will only test their Monza package there.

Why would they put such heavy objects in the sidepods? I expected that they would put them all 'in' the fuel tank region.

Perhaps just a temporary measure!

surely, the car is a F1.07C by the way.

but it is also possible they are testing 2009 sidepods. they do have a minimum radius.

Is there an actual car with that designation? I thought the F1.06 was the earliest BMW chassis....

So, you meant F1.07C instead of F1.01C?
