Hi Guys wondering your thoughts on the legendary people that are Adrain Newey and Ross Brawn.

Over the past years, apart from the renault cars, they have been involved with the cars who have won the F1 championship all be it with Mclaren, Ferrari and Williams.

Do you think they are really that good or good at surrounding themselves with the people they know will produce a good car? For example Adrain Newey and Geoff Willis?

Wonder what it would be like to get them in the same team to design a car!

The way I understand it, it's a bit like comparing Apples and Oranges. Newey is a Phd-aerodynamicist, while Brawn strarted off as a machine-operator with the old March team, having worked himself up in a most credible way to a technical and administrative management position with Ferrari. Now a team-owner at that.

Perhaps Newey and Rory Byrne would be a better comparison?

ah you have me worng. I wasn't tryin to compare them just wondering if anyone else noticed the fact they have been involved with the winning cars for many years! It can't be a coincidence if you have different teams with the same people, ie ross can employ the people who he can motivate to win, where as newey can work the aerodynamics to produce great cars.

I know that they are different departmemnts enitrely.

it would be great to see both of them working for the same team ...

as you said ROSS knows to employ right people in the right place and NEWAY is the best man in his place.so ROSS could bring out NEWAY's best.

so there migt be no conflict......they could work together with a great relationship.

That's my opinion too. Both Newey and Byrne are head and shoulders above the rest right now. From 1992 through 2004 the World Drivers' Championship was an exclusive battle between 'Schuey' and 'Newey', with Rory Byrne engineering Michael Schumacher to 7 titles whilst Adrian Newey engineered Mansell, Prost, Hill, Villeneuve and Häkkinen to 6 titles.

It's nice to fantasize about a "dream team", be it football or Formula One. And pairing Newey with Brawn would be very exciting and interesting.

In my opinion it would be bloody boring for F1. Ross is the best team principle in F1, and Neway is the best designer in F1. Like someone said above, Ross can probably bring the best out of Neway with his excellent resources management skill. But I think their finishing product would be so damn quick it might be even more dominating than the F2004 or the MP4/4.

I think a "historic" pairing of John Barnard with Mike Gascoyne would have been interesting to behold, two autocrats, both with the self confidence of a T-Rex.

If we then could add Jean Alesi and Nigel Mansell as drivers, there would not have been a boring second.

For oj1983: Perhaps with Nigel Stepney and Mike Coughlan trusted with the department of intellectual property?

ROFLMAO this made my day.

The two guys in question both have a wonderfull knack to prioritise technical issues and advance those that are likely to result in performance jumps. It made them effective technical directors.

I see this talent even more broadly impersonated in Ross Brawn. He also has shown his talent in race engineering and in people management by turning a whole team around from what can only be described as FUBAR.

A fast car is 90% of what is needed in F1 (2007 McLaren proof that you can mess up even that) and so the additional capabilities of Brawn may be underestimated.

This makes me think of the days of when you could break into a rival's garage and take photos of their cars overnight!! Now that was proper espionage!!!

Jean-Pierre van Rossem and Andrea Sasetti in charge of finances?

And if that doesn't make it rowdy enough, how about Gunther Schmid as Race strategy supervisor, WB?

I agree. Brawn alone has made F1 boring thus far, and Newey, if Brawn didn't make it to the grid this year, would have done the same. If they teamed up, every race would be a foregone conclusion. Although I feel this way about them on the same team, I also believe they are the best of the best in their roles, respectively. I'd much rather see them compete with one another, and on that note, I hope Red Bull's Silverstone pace wasn't a fluke so the championship isn't such a yawn.
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!
