A better question might be: "Where else can Alonso go?" Renault and McLaren are out. I don't think he gets into Mercedes while Schu is there. Red Bull? Can't see it.

Didn't alonso say ferrari is the last team he will race for?

I suppose after 2012, there will be no more Alonso. The good thing is that if he does leave in 2012 and Massa leaves, then Hamilton may move to Ferrari.
That would be very interesting indeed.

Agreed, it seems to me that the Scuderia has lost the plot.

Looks like my earlier analysis was spot on. Ferrari are happy to have a true #2 driver in Massa.

just what massa needed ; still on the way back from his accident and unsure of his seat at the same time was surely bad for him
I expect he will improve rapidly now

It's called loyalty.

Nope, its called Ferrari having no better choice left, then marketed as loyalty.

They had more to lose than to gain by not signing Massa early in the season.
Right place right time for Massa, and best of luck to him for that.

I agree. Massa won't be #1 at Ferrari. I think Alonso will stay there a couple of years more (unless next year's car is a total dog). If the car is quick enough to win, then Alonso will do that more consistently than Massa.

As I've said before, I think 2008 was Massa's only shot at the drivers' title; I can see Hamilton, Button, Alonso having more titles (or at least good runs at the title) but I can't see Massa recapturing his form of 2008.
