Biggest con-artist ever in F1?

Post

Inspired by USF1 and Stefan GP, I wonder if there's more suggestions for "biggest con-artist ever in F1"?

Nick Fry's Shampoo-sponsor perhaps? Any ideas WB?

Let me answer before topic becomes locked.

A certain character comes to my mind, but despite being big, he is also the clumsiest one, as he was caught red-handed each time in front of global population of TV viewers.

Somehow Tilke, even though he designs for the most part boring, uninteresting tracks, managages to keep getting the gig.

There are better bespoke tracks in Forza, and Gran Turismo.

He keeps conning Bernie, and conning a con makes you a con, yesno?

When MrM had started his March team in 1970, he offered Chris Amon a staggering 100 000 GBP to leave Ferrari.
This was an unheard of amount at the time, why he never bothered to pay, at least not in full, why Amon left for 1971.

But remarkably, for 1973 when Ronnie Peterson was leaving for Lotus, he somehow managed to sign Chris Amon again, only this time he didn't even bother to give him the drive as he later found a couple of pay-drivers.

Last year, Nelson Piquet Sr convinced MrE that he was broke and managed to sell him his xclusive watch for 100 kUSD.

That's a con-artist.

Or
Frank Williams bought a new March from MrM , but on delivery they found traces of the ex Brambilla March orange paint on the chassis

Got the book that quotes this , somewhere at home .....

Or MrM, funny how that name keeps popping up, had press shots of himself standing with his 6 wheeled car, with 4 rear wheels, that never ran or was intended to, just to attract sponsors.

MrE when he presented Gordon Murray's "Surface cooled" BT46, which was no more than styrofoam pasted to the tub.

Car just turned a lap to prove it overheated, why there was argument for installing a 747-sized cooling-fan in the back.

Tom Walkinshaw, who didn't bother to pay anyone, managed to piss Cosworth off to the xtent that he had to pay them
1 MUSD before every race in order to get the engines for his Arrows cars.

A great article outlining many of Tom Walkinshaw's dodgy dealings.

Ah Walkinshaw. I had an argument with that man in the Jaguar pit at the 1989 Le Mans. I was so glad when Malik pulled the plug on him later on.
I spent some time in Nigeria, including a number of Sahara crossings.
Met a lot of people out there.
Sorry Tom.

Colin Colles, Tom Walkinshaw and Eddie Jordan in no particular order.
