What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

I will wait to see how it will shape up.

Yep. The track property is just ahead on the left. Elroy starts to the right about where the hill is.

That's one of them (FM 812). In the long run it's supposed to be expanded. In the short term it's going to be re-striped to 4 lanes, with 3 being used for track traffic on race day (3 Inbound before the race, 3 Outbound after).

There are 3 roads into the track from the west (812, McAngus, and Elroy). COTA is still in negotiation with the county over expansion of Elroy Rd. The latest from the county is that it will be expanded, but not before the race. Yet there are survey and utility markers all over the section that needs expansion. WeWillSee.

I've only been to two places in Texas. So just be thankful I'm not confusing Austin with Killeen.

For some reason that youtube video "has been removed by the user". Weird. Still works at the COTA FB page though: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=24 ... =2&theater

The medical centre looks like its timber framed. I wonder what they are going to do for sound insulation? You'd expect a medical centre needs to be quiet and calm inside.

It looks to me like they're just framing the interior walls with studs. At least there are some steel columns and beams in place on the front and back. I also guess that they're going to use a stone veneer like the other buildings.

AustinRaceHotels.com (@AustinRaceHotel) posted 18 new photos last night from her COTA tour of Monday afternoon. I shot some yesterday as well that I'll try to get uploaded today. Enjoy!

Thanks, HS.

It looks in this photo like the curtain wall is going up on the pits and it also looks on the right like the grandstand is going vertical...

A man has suffered critical injuries after a tractor rolled over onto him at the Formula One construction site in Travis County, officials said.

Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman Warren Hassinger said multiple units, including an ambulance and a StarFlight helicopter, are on the way to the site. The man, reported to be 30 years old, went into cardiac arrest, Hassinger said. His condition is unknown, as are the circumstances of the incident.

Check back for more details.
