I think Mercedes is the equal of Ferrari already in terms of speed and consistency. We do not know if RedBull is holding back and how much.I assume they got a 3 tenths advantage in qualy but are not any quicker in racetrim and consistency.
Mclaren are unreliable ,as is Renault ,as is Williams so I rate them lower than TR and Sauber at the season opener.Lotus is as quick as FI ,who are not looking too good.Virgin will be in front of HRT at the start due to reliability and car knowledge.
HRT will show their pace later in the year ,as will Mclaren,Renault and Williams

I think Torro Rosso, Williams and Sauber will be pretty close performance wise, with very different technical solutions. So the midfield battle this year could be quite interesting.

Only thing that will separate that lot during the season is reliability and development, Sauber seem to have the advantage when considering those things right now, they copied and developed the f-duct the fastest last year and the didn't have an EBD because they stopped developing the C29 and it was fast without it.

Hmmm you are right in te top two but not in that order, the rest well I tink its very optimistic to have Mercedes up there after just one amazing time by MSC to back it up.

Having said that I would back you up about your order but for only one thing: the SAUBER was very close to MSC time and that gave me the insight or hint that teams are holding back here to sow the cards in Melbourne.. But I am no expert and we will know soon enough....
My predictions:

1. Ferrari
2. Red Bull
3. Renault
4. Mercedes
5. Toro rosso
6. Mclaren

On what basis would anyone put Renault ahead of Mercedes?
They showed less speed and less consistency then the Merc, especially the final test.
More could have been done.

Interesting. All the engines have 3 teams each, but the Cossie has half the mileage of the Ferrari?
