The point here is that it is far easier to apply to electric traction.
An associate of mine developed the control system for the 'Nemesis' electric car that uses exactly this idea.

torque verctoring is the concept ,no?

with separate drives for individual wheels you can do anything you want in terms of car control -IF you are able to actuallly control it-which is a different story altogether .

As described, braking the inside wheel of an axle to adjust the trajectory, is of course exactly what the ESC does on every econobox. The additional niceness of being able to selectively drive a wheel is of course not achievable without an active diff or electric motor, but making econoboxes go faster if they are in need of intervention is not a common strategy.
