Williams FW40 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The bulge in the engine cover and the top of the rear fin suggests Williams might be going to run a chimney type air exit the same as Merc.

Thanks to shorter tea tray FWs are closer than ever to the ground(except for those Red Bulls that had them flexing like crazy).

What goes under them can be crucial.

I'm most interested in the bargeboard/leading edge of the floor. There's definitely something going on there with the leading edge so high.

I'm off to scour for photos.

Suspension arms are perfectly lined up either with the hot air exits and diffuser, top and bottom ones respectively (and obviously).
