Has there been any sort of confirmation about where the KERS battery is carried on the F2012? I'm thinking that perhaps those holes are to cool a KERS battery carried as far aft as possible.

does anyone else think that the part of the diffuser that you can see where the pull rod meets the floor is open on both sides? u can also see debris in the very high res photo

i think that that small hole is for cooling...

I'm with amouzouris on this one, I see a very large opening which I've highlighted in the image. I don't think that was on the car previously, and I haven't seen it on any other car either.

it has been on the car since launch...that's the so called starter motor hole...what i am talking about is just opposite of that...towards the pullrod...not the small hole just beside the brembo logo...
i think that it is opened up on both sides..

EDIT: actually come to think of it again...i don't see a benefit by doing this and the rules wouldn't allow it i think..

it has been on the car since launch...that's the so called starter motor hole...what i am talking about is just opposite of that...towards the pullrod...not the small hole just beside the brembo logo...
i think that it is opened up on both sides..

EDIT: actually come to think of it again...i don't see a benefit by doing this and the rules wouldn't allow it i think..

i see what ur saying there could be an opening as there looks to be a little step down after the pull rod pick up points.

i dont think legality is a problem, if RB's sidepod "tunnel" is legal this should be too.

The top speed has definitely improved it seems. But F1.com live timing reported that the car is still a handful. Did anyone notice from the onboard shots how it's behaving?

FP1 in-car shots on Sky showed a lot of rapid corrections of the steering input mid-corner, i.e. catching snap oversteer. This wouldn't flatter speed trap figures either, if they can't get the exit speed.

Yeah I saw Alonso having tons of oversteer two corners before the last chicane.

Is it just me or is the part where the nose meets the bulkhead curved now? just on top of the car number?

Optical only, I'm watching FP2 and from the rear it's clearly level across the bulkhead.

What makes you think any flow is going in this hole (yellow arrow) after rounding that bend in front of it. This going to be a low pressure zone. I also doubt there will be any useful flow for the red circled zone to utilize.
