Does anybody know what's coming to Hockenheim? Upgrades?

I would expect to see the new FW that has been seen during practice at the last 2 GP's would finally be used for the race. Not sure what other updates to expect.

The final word is the front pull rod suspension was introduced primarily for aerodynamic purposes than anything else. The team made the final decision for the pull rod front in June of 2011 & first discussed it in March 2011. They have never once worried that it was a cause for any of the cars problems. Good job Scuderia!

Will be interesting in seeing the updates for Hock!

i have to confess that i thought that the pull rod suspension was the reason for the problems. Even some experts said this and i believed it. But now i think Ferrari did a good decision with the pull rods

Keep an eye out this week I believe the Monza spec wing will pop its head out of the wood work.

I believe this is what we may see:

1. New FW being tested and raced.
2. New Monza Spec rear wing
3. New Brake drum/package
4. Canadian exhaust with floor modification?
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I assume Ferrari are getting the exhaust gas to interact with the low pressure centre behind the rear wheel.

Yea i think most teams do that.

But i never seen a team that has a flap that will actually scoop up (or down) the exhaust gases and bring some of it under the diffuser.

Mclaren and RBR seems to blow their exhaust gases in the same area but i don´t think i´ve seen any of them actually scoop it down under the diffuser. I think they blow it on the (for example) left hand side and then it spills some between the diffuser and rear tire.

I haven´t seen simlar pictures of Mc or RBR so i could be wrong there though

Sorry you lost me there, do you mean RBR and Mclaren haven´t ran a similar flap since 2010?

Anybody as far as I know. It was pretty common in 2010 before teams started sealing the diffusers with the exhaust.

ok now i´m with you,

Why would they not use it in 2011 for example when it was legal to actually position the exhaust just in front of it?
Would it not be optimal to actually get some of the gases in under the diffuser as well as on the side of it?

And why have Ferrari brought this back? I assume it´s there to pick up some of the gases?

They were a tad different originally. This is the RB5, and it did much the same thing as the now-infamous hole-slots. The rules don't allow for such a design anymore.

What is the difference in legality between the RB5´s and the one on the F2012?
