Maybe they'll put it on tomorrow? It is surprising though.

Indeed was about to post that.

Only Mercedes will know whether it does them any good or not. But I reckon they need some bolt on downforce on the arse of that car sharpish. Especially around Barca.

Any ideas on the tail skirts, and why Merc aren't pursuing this avenue?
More could have been done.

I would think the exhaust solution Merc are running provides enough turbulence to delay the boundary layer seperation thus negating the need for the rear wing tail skirt.

The car has gained a vertical strut near the splitter.

Could be due to more balast on the tray area.

The diffuser vanes seem to concentrate the flow in the center also.

Have a look and Lotus aren't running a skirt either. It must be due to the exhaust option both are running.

Probably. If they were trying to seal the diffuser, they would have the skirt too.

I saw them adjusting this strut during FP2 today. I'm wondering just how much they can lower their static ride height and what it's relation is to the upgraded internal suspenion components we know were tested at Mugello. I'm guessing they are bringing that tea tray as low as possible for their newly augmented ability to maintain ride height.

They confirmed upgraded suspension components? I am a bit behind the ball. Could this link be somehow tied to the suspension if they are indeed adjusting it?

I hear that on BBC they say that MS and Nico have different rear suspension. I think this is connected with new CF gearbox MS have. Nico have to use his old gearbox for one race more.

Ahh ok so it has to do with the fact they are using a new gearbox. I was thinking some sort of inner workings.

A carbon fiber box would allow the team to shift weight forward. So perhaps that is why they have the new rig on the tea tray. Although that's Rosberg's car and not Schumachers in the picture a few posts above.

What 'newly augmented ability to maintain ride height'?

Such a system would surely be illegal?

Beautiful new Carbon base. The gearbox that is arround 10KG lighter than the Cast/Carbon hybrid and the gearbox that gives them arround 20% more adjustability on the suspension setup as well whitch should give them 4 tenths in weight saving and a little more from having the ability for more ballast. However the new Carbon case will give more back once they go for more aggressive or in other words a better setup for the Pirellis so Mercedes could go an extra lap and half to their previous setups.

This is one of about 3 areas that Mercedes have and will improve throughout the season.

Just need to get Schumacher a setup for those "Raw Eggs" to be "Boiled Eggs" as long as he dosnt overcook them to become "Fried Eggs"
