And the matching nipple tassels at the rear do more to confirm (if it were needed) those pipes ahead of the beam wing are DDRS.

Indeed. I told Zyphro there was a 99.9999% chance they'd use it. Will be interesting in seeing how competitive this car is this weekend.

I expected it all along too. Agree, I am curious to see how competitive it will be.

still short flap DRS. I dunno why but I think the team should use long flap drs for more downforce, correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks longer than usual to me.

Correction... It's the same.

They might have found a way to get the same downforce as the long flap version.

I believe the monkey seat aspect of this new feature is a only very small portion of what Mercedes are trying to accomplish with this new bit. I would bet we will see this idea copied in the future. The uprights for the tiny wing itself are positioned so to create a nozzle effect for air exiting beyond the beam wing. Brilliant idea as it creates more of a low pressure area to the underside of the main wing element.

Below is a quick (and terrible) rendering from the top looking down. You get the idea. I expect we will see more on this concept. Much more.

N!pple rings -- this could be ominous for good results for the team in Monaco, surely?

Perhaps it's not just all about total DF points, but DF in balance from front-to-rear?

Just how much scope for design innovation does that area allow for the teams? Would multiple elements & endplates/uprights like the main rear wing make any aerodynamic sense? Like a tarsier recliner on top of a lemur lounger?

Yeah, fat nose was there since the Mugello test and We have seen it first time in China at morning practice. Anyway, noticed that after Schumi broke his front wing in the first session, he revert to the old, narrower concept.

Interesting, if they don't have a spare from this element...

What is the advantage of Fat nose and wider wing pylon?

Please expand, I don't understand wanting high pressure under the main wing.
