Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Allison said that they didn't use the modesty pannel "yet". I am expecting the new car on the 5th with a refined back end (exhaust layout/engine cover) and a non-step nose.

I don't expect it on the 5th. I expect it at the first race.

Hmm it's the new car with old parts, notice the side holes aren't on the air intake?

That's the way I see it. I expect most of the cars will look the same as last year. This is close to the same with a new exhaust treatment and a new downwash wing. There will be more bits to come.

I think the launches this season are going to be pretty worthless anyway, there's hardly any major rule changes and if anything most teams are treating it as some weird interim season before things really kick off for 2014. It's almost like most have just resigned themselves to the fact that Red Bull are going to dominate again and that any real chance of improvement is going to come with the new engines.

This car does seem to at the least be the E20 chassis with new sidepods, exhausts, front wing I think. Oh and paint job. Then again you can't really blame them.

Alot of big changes...

New exhaust
Different sidpods (big undercuts like McLaren) - This alone requires different internal packaging.

Also a modesty panel on that last pic, what the hell :D

Edit: where did the last pic go? :?: I showed a modesty panel on the nose, also livery was the new one...

Actually the sidepods are exactly the same like last year

It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time
