Deffinetly low rear downforce setup - slimer RW and no monkey seat. Should they have an extremly high rear downforce and reduce it by the wing, to balance the car...?

could this all be the result of Aldo Costa finally sorting out the "Super-interlined-hyper-complicated Suspension"?

Does running with less wing mean that they've got better mechanical grip on the W04?

That seems to be the case. As it produced less downforce they would be terrible in the corners and slower overall. I also think the exhaust blowing effect has something to do with it. Looking at the Red Bull, Lotus and now Williams with their ramp exhaust it is obvious the Mercedes and Renault engines produces different blowing effects and as we all know that the Mercedes consumes more fuel they could be pumping large volumes of exhaust gases for even more downforce, thus this wing which gives even more straight line speed...

But why? They used it "covered", there wasn't the hole before; in this way, the air would go between the track and the tyre, isn't it?

Hi guys - new to this Forum so please don't eat me alive

Does anyone have any pictures of the Mercedes rake from this mornings runs? Can't seem to find a picture anywhere that shows a good view of the cars rake. Testing looking good for this car though, after the first two days in Jerez the car seems to be really very relialble which is always a good sign in F1, I like what Merc have done with the rear end of the car is packaged really nice and tightly and the air flow looks smooth, think a big step forward has been made this year. Whether or not they'll really be where this mornings times suggest remains to be seen.

Slots there are typically to help stop tyre squirt causing pressure buildup in unwanted places.

Since he said a while back the car lacks down force compared to the 27, (although we don't know if that has been improved recently) I wonder if the mechanical grip and suspension is more forgiving than Macca's which was always stiff?

The move looks like it has done him the world of good, much more relaxed.
