A vanity-less VdG during Hungary FP3 & Qualy

Any reason? Really because of he's struggling with the new tires & upgrades to the car?
When asked about the van der Garde/Kovalainen rumours in Hungary, team boss Cyril Abiteboul admitted the sponsored Dutchman "has some challenges" in using this year’s Pirelli tyres.

"We have to see how the changes to the tyres this weekend are affecting him, but also how the upgrades to the car are affecting his challenge," he said.

Why did van der garde run the old nose this weekend, some are saying he is struggling with the new tyres, but why would the old nose help?

Spa, Thursday. Very simple rear wing with lots of height, however. Not as slim as the Red Bull one, but similar style:

Would mean, in a general fashion, that they need more rear downforce and should sacrifice some top speed - about to be confirmed by the speed traps after FP.

It looks like they have also ditched the slots on the end-plates

Indeed, louvers are a way to balance the vortex formations, but a source of drag per se. We are talking about, again, for an L/D compromise with regards to the general setup.

BTW, I have added the term, louvers, to our Glossary page yesterday - http://www.f1technical.net/glossary/l

Heiki reported that shifting into 1-st gear is 'quite lethal', suggested coasting from second. Giedo reported no general issues apart from the very wet track.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

It's what they use to control pitch for their connected suspension system.

Would that not mean the sidepod and floor are disconnected?
If it was one piece i can´t see why you would put a spring there.

Looks cool though.
