McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Like Scarbs said, very red bull esque.

With the exception of shape and size of the upperflaps and the strakes underneath the wing, they are more or less identical. endplate, endplate slot, cascades, mainplane, uppermost flap slot,... .

The McLaren one looks a little more agressive while the RedBull Shapes are a little more "flowy" but you can clearly see where Peter Prodromou came from.

To be honest he could just as well have taken the endplates from the red bull factory with him to Woking. It'd be a perfect fit.

Also for the Cannon Exits. I'm not sure if they are smaller or if it's just the Angle but now they are one Piece with the Engine Cover, before they where seperate. So there yould very well be some changes too.

Edit: For the Front Wing, we can not really say it is a RedBull Copy, since PP and his Team at RB came up with that Design, he simply follows his Aero Design at another Team.

Wow. Ron ain't messing about. Straight to work my boy. This weekend will be interesting to say the least.

Love this. No holding back and get it on the car. Also reckon this is exactly what Honda want to see.

Not surprised, I think this is what we were all expecting with the front wing. Mercedes made the change this year, now Mclaren is as well.

what do people think the front wing could be worth in term's of laptime gain? or to hard to judge something like that? considering how influential it is to the rest of the airflow over the rest of the car and how many times ive heard that McLaren is front limited! I am very interested to see how this work's out.

I might be wrong but the hot air exits look longer, going out in line with the rear wing.

yes they caught my eye too. The Stakes don't look like the sculpted Ones on the Old Wing. But i guess thats only logical with the New Wing and it's Concept.
