because they are plastic and melt pretty easily.
Being plastic doesn't imply they melt easily. There are plastics that remain solid at many hundred degrees C.

The lower triangle(if we can call it that) on Mercs front suspension is unlike anything i've seen.

I can't grasp what's going on there.

It's actually not. my turbo from my RX7 is about the same rear compressor size I guess they are similar models mine is a td04
new Ball bearing turbos from Garret like the GT 35R and 42R are MUCH BIGGER and are for 2 liter 4 cyl engines! so no not that big

Nice shot ( AMUS ) of the output of the Mercedes brakes, in Spain they had the shape of chimneys https://twitter.com/Graftechweb/status/ ... 4549685248

Perhaps not completely related or fully on topic (sorry about that; it's meant for future developments to show), but I made some alterations on my drawings to get closer to the W05 FW. Do you guys think it's an improvement?

The thing is that it's extremely hard to draw since you are flattening to only 2 dimensions, while the wing twists and turns around several planes. It's important to get it correctly done since my believe is that little will change towards the W06, so important to get it right by then.

I think the new one looks better, although it is indeed tough to workout shapes especially at places when there are few surfaces on different levels. Maybe you can try a bit of shading? At least on winglet area.

nico said they tried something 'creative' with the car, hence the lack of pace. anyone know what it was? new parts vis-à-vis 2015 or just setup-fiddle?

They experimented with setup, i think Rosberg was given the experimental route and Hamilton a more standard setup route.

Yes, someone mentioned it was because the Williams are so fast they wanted a bit more straight line speed in case they had to pass them, interesting that they can just bolt them on and go without much setup work to adapt though.

Go back a couple of pages, it was at least tested at Suzuka -- I thought it was raced there too, so I'm a bit puzzled that the F1 website says it's a Russia innovation.

That chimney in the lower picture is clearly illegal because it sticks out of the brake duct box.
I think it was only used during some test.
