Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Did anyone else notice this new little winglet on the insides of the front wing endplates? Anyone seen a clearer photo of it / have any idea what its for? It's quite hard to make out in this pic, but it sits about half way back along the endplate, behind the triple element cascade - doesn't appear to be painted or anything!

Looks very similar to the one McLaren and then Mercedes added to their front wings. Need a higher quality image than this to see properly. As to what it does. To me it seems to help to turn the airflow outwards and upwards a bit. It creates a higher pressure area at the very top of the front wing end plate (toward the back of the end plate). This high pressure zone would stop the airflow rolling around the top of the endplate from the outside to the inside as the air flow is forced outward by the curve in the endplate.

The rearwing mounting looks new to me. It looks a bit swanneck-like
