Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Cool - lots of shots!

The engine cover looks to be more shrink wrapped. Hope to see better photos of it.

Great pic. So the roll hoop intake feeds the compressor directly? not like the Renault engine where the compressor has a small disc shaped air box.

Here you can see the feeding from the roll hoop, through a filter(I guess) and then down to the turbo.

Wow, that looks amazing. Love the compressor housing integration. Very neat packaging. Ferrari and Renault units look quite a mess in comparison! Lot of catching up to do and pretty sure Merc has held performance way back this year.

That last image is a thing of beauty. It belongs in an art gallery.
