Front to rear width of 1995 cars, question (412 T2).

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Front to rear width of 1995 cars, question (412 T2).

Post

Hello F1 gurus. I have a question for you regarding the 412 T2.

Is the width the exact same front to rear during this period. When I say width, I do not mean track, I mean from edge of tire to edge of tire. Pretty sure it was the same. Looking for verification as a friend claims some cars were wider in the front, which makes no sense to me?

Car width up till 1998 was 2000mm
Front wing 1400mm in 1995
Rear wing 1000mm in 1995
(perhaps 980mm ~ Memories failing>?)

Is that what you are asking?

Are sorry you mean; was the front track wider that the rear? I think it was nomally the same.
If you look at the geometrical tracking lines (i don't know what to call that), the rear would be narrower, because the rear tyres are wider, but outside edge to outside edge wouldn't be different by much, but I can't tell you beyond that.

Yes, I am looking for info on outside edge to outside edge, front to back...

Can't find information on the Ferrari 412T2, but the McLaren MP4/10 had a front track of 66.5 in/1690mm and a rear track of 63.1 in/1605mm and a wheel rim width of front 11.75 in and rear 13.7 in. The Jordan 195 had a similar front track of 66.9 in/1700mm and a rear of 63.7 in/1618mm. The Tyrrell 023 front and rear track was the same at 78.7 in/2000mm, although this looks like this this figure is to the outside of the tires.
