I think it does look like there's a feeder tube there actually. I'm more curious about that metallic plenum thing that has two thick tubes connected to it running off to the side. Presumably they're runners for the intercooler. Still a little odd?

its a split turbo with the compressor at the front, the black carbon tube is the feed from the intercooler up to the inlet plenum. Next to the that the gold\silvery tube is the outlet from the turbo, down to the intercooler. McLaren-Honda oddly choose to run the two very close together and siamese the two connectors together, there's some pictures of these and the intercooler in the previous pages.

Q: Can you explain where the biggest glitches are? Some of the drivers say after they follow a McLaren that the car looks fantastic in the corners - so is pace all that has to be added?
Based on the above, is it because of lower corner entry speed, or that the car actually are good ??

It is still just infrared light that it detects, aka photons, and they can reflect just as any other light. Here is a more thorough paper on the subject in case you are interested:

so the compressor sits at the front or not?...
reading helps... was confused by scarbs drawing "turbo out".
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Not sure if I read it right but Omnicorse suggest compressor is in the V, not in front. That would go along the lines of Giorgio Piola's updated drawing last month. Definitely looks interesting and unique, Button said its "closer" to the Merc solution then the Ferrari/Renault.

I always thought the commpressor is on the front of the V6, based on the shape of the airbox, but...

Why not? maybe the compressor is actually placed a bit backward and that the airbox has a duct that crosses the V to feed the compressor... And the golden intercooler-compressor duct does the same?
