A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I wonder if the team are trying to better understand the relationship between the exhaust/monkey seat/rear wing with DRS on and off?

Could be an easy way of doing some low-downforce work in preparation for Monza. Looks like the front wing is flatter than normal too.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

The winglets are just an artificial and cheap means of creating a higher downforce condition on the car to test something on it.
Maybe they are looking into simulating mercedes levels of downforce on their car?
Who knows, it could even be tyre related or floor related.

But as i said in the mercedes thread, i am suspicious about their floor. Williams are possibly investigating it and see how much they gain on their car with similar donwforce levels. For all we know it could even be to compare how much weaker their engine is than the works team engine.
For Sure!!

They did have some reattachment issues early on in the season.

Those side wings should reduce aero drag aroumd the wheels most of all. Like a front wing in front the wheel excepe its the for the rear.

What is so different about the Mercedes floor?

I highly doubt the Williams PU is any different than the Mercedes PU. The fuel they burn is different.

The rear turning vanes above the diffuser on the rear wing end plates have also grown slightly larger and now attach to the top of the diffuser.

Williams front wing is stickered: ballast 5 kg, MEMS 15. I don't know what MEMS means?

Says MEMS 17, no? Unless my eyesight is going.

Probably the base wing angle or similar?
