Mercedes AMG F1 W06

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Front wing of this car is so refined, it makes others look like work of amateurs.

I'm actually struggling to see the difference between the current front wing and the final one used by the 05...

The differences are very slight, so it does make me wonder whether we'll see more visible work done to it by Melbourne.

AMuS reported that Merc were due to bring a new FW to Melbourne that has more visible changes to it. The rest of the field must hope this does not add even more performance.

The car threads are for discussing the actual features of the car, in this case the W06.

Posts about Mclaren in 2013, Ferrari & Ross Brawn have been removed.

So Mercedes really does look like they have gone to an equal length primaries type exhaust manifold, interesting move. I must say they have done an excellent job in bunching the pipes up tightly together, still getting the bodywork quite narrow in that area.

The intake plenum looks rather large, is it confirmed that they moved to a variable length intake manifold? Looks like there is an opening in the plenum also, I wonder why.

Thats a lot bigger than the log exhaust. I'm assuming the power increase from this change must be quite large to offset the loss in free space at the back for Aero.
