This looks like some serious equipment... anyone know about it? They are measuring tire/suspension deflection?

I assume those are high speed cameras directed at that green laser. If that's the case they are probably measuring tyre deflection under different loadings.

Old rear wing - hopefully just for comparison.

Monkey seat is on as per maximum downforce.

Bite-size tech: Williams FW38 wing mirror stalks

Williams has openly admitted it is struggling to improve the operating window of the FW38, as it is at sea in terms of understanding the tyres and adding downforce.

It completed extensive set-up and correlation work at the post-British GP test and hope to make improvements based on those findings in Hungary.

A new pair of wing mirror stalks have been introduced in Budapest that have a horizontal section that places the mirrors higher than their predecessors (inset).

Whilst the logical conclusion may be that they help the driver's field of vision you can expect they have further aerodynamic benefits.

Placing the mirrors up higher will put them out of the way of the aerodynamic devices on the leading edge of the sidepod, hopefully improving their efficiency and increase downforce.

Bad news. Williams have reverted to the China-spec bargeboards: https://twitter.com/albrodpul/status/756148077937983488

As of FP1 Williams has kinda pressed reset on the car, last years nose, early season barge boards and rear wing.

I agree! One note: I think they have the new suspensions installed.
